PORTUGUESE NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM CHOOSES LE MERIDIEN
The Portuguese National football team were recently hosted by Le Meridien St.Julians Hotel + Spa during their brief stay on the island in September 2008. The 22 man squad kicked off their World Cup 2010 qualifying campaign against Malta at Ta’ Qali national Stadium on Saturday 6th of September 2008. This is the first game that Mr.Carlos Queiroz was in charge of the national team after six years as assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson at European Champions Manchester United.
This is the second high profile football team hosted by Le Meridien after Juventus FC were accommodated at the hotel earlier this year.
