A harmony set in stone

Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa is starting the New Year with the launch of an artistic partnership articulated around creativity and the enhancement of the local culture.

In the contemporary Lobby of the property, arriving guests and visitors alike can now admire some of Joe Xuereb's stunning sculptures, carved with inspiring endowment in Gozitan limestone. Originated from Ghajnsielem, the first village visitors meet after landing in Mgarr Harbour on the island of Gozo, Joe Xuereb embraces the Maltese artistic fascination for the female principle of humanity with an infinite range of subtle emotions and attitudes.

"When I was first presented with the possibility of exhibiting Mr. Xuereb's works of art in our premises, I was amazed on how perfectly our Brand could support his talent, not only in terms of mission statement but also in the way we are striving to reach out to the creative guests," explain Mr. Franco Vella, General Manager at Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa. "His sculptures present an interesting contemporary touch in the purity of their lines and in the astonishing harmony of their curves. Yet again, his work irradiates a vibrant soul by exploiting at the same time ancestral symbols and local material inherent to the Maltese culture - which we, as an hotelier, strive to unveil for our foreign clientele."

The permanent exhibition is a taster of the vast collection that Mr. Xuereb has on display in his Gallery in Gozo. Indeed, 5 pieces were carefully selected by the artist, based on the architectural requirements of the hotel décor. The sculptures are not only a rejoicing display for any aesthetic connoisseur visiting Le Méridien: they are for sale and guests can obtain additional information about the artist at Le Méridien concierge desk. Enthusiasts are also invited to visit Joe Xuereb's workshop in Gozo, in order to learn more about the proficient techniques of the artist.

More information can be requested via Le Méridien Concierge Desk or by contacting the artist directly at info@joexuereb.com
