Le Méridien's participation to World Tourism Day

CELEBRATING BIODIVERSITY

ST JULIANS, MALTA - SEPTEMBER, 10th 2010

Le Méridien St Julians will be celebrating World Tourism Day together with Malta Tourism Authority and with the rest of the world, on Monday 27th of September. The World Tourism Organisation and the United Nations have highlighted a great theme this year: "Tourism and Biodiversity". This theme was chosen in order to bring more awareness towards the conservation of the world's fragile biodiversity systems in the oceans, on land and in the skies.

"MTA has put together a great program of activities spread on more than a week", explains Angela Saliba, Le Méridien Hotel Manager. "We wanted to give our full support to this initiative by organizing an outing for our hotel guests, in relation with the established theme."

Indeed, on Monday 27th of September, Le Méridien guests are invited to join a half-day walk in the country side - a great way for tourists to discover the wonders of Malta and to raise awareness about everyone's duty to protect and respect the biodiversity of our island. The tour will start in Bahrija and will go through Kucizzjoni over the Victoria lines down to Fomm ir-Rih. It will then go up on the cliff edge of Ras il-Pellegrin and down to Gnejna. From there, walkers will adventure from the cliff-edge of Lippijja to Ghajn Tuffieha. The walk will offer splendid views of the northwest of Malta as well as visits to some interesting cultural sites.

Hotel guests who are willing to join will be picked up from Le Méridien early morning and will be driven back to the premises early afternoon. This will be at no cost for the participants.
