AMBIguous: a creative versatility!

This month, Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa is once again hosting an exhibition that will certainly delight creative minds and art amateurs alike.

This upcoming art exhibition, named "AMBIguous", is gathering the creative forces of two very versatile Maltese artists: Mr. Mark Mallia and Ms. Claire Attard-Vella. It will be on display from the 12th till the 27th of March 2011, on the second floor of Le Méridien St Julians in Balluta Bay. Access to the exhibition area is free of charge.

Mark Mallia is an established artist whose first exhibition was held at the Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta and in many luxurious locations in Malta.  He was influenced by the renowned Maltese artist, the late Esprit Barthet. His favourite artistic period is the impressionism, which interestingly always appears in his compositions.  He has exhibited in a prestigious Art Gallery in the Principality of Monaco, where he lived for a couple of years.  His talent and artistic whereabouts earned him an Art Bursary in Florence, attributed by the Italian Cultural Institute. Mark Mallia's exuberance and unpredictable interpretations are amply portrayed in his abstract and semi-abstract works depicting land & countryscapes, roof tops and other surreal compositions which capture mystery and intrigue.

Claire Attard-Vella is a young emerging artist who follows the teachings of well known Maltese artist Philip Chircop. She is at ease with water colours, her early love, and oils/acrylics which medium she adopted in later years. Claire expresses her creative talents on both canvas and wood.  Her versatility ranges from landscapes, still life and portraiture, abstract and semi-abstract works in water colour. She brings out a tasteful sensuality and transposes her personality in brightly coloured compositions.  Art for Claire is an energy which emanates from within. "When I paint it feels almost therapeutic for me", explains the young painter. "It's where I let myself go completely, where I can interact with my soul." Claire Attard-Vella has exhibited in Wine Bars and has also painted live on a Maltese TV Channel TV programme.

The curator for the AMBIguous exhibition, held in March at Le Méridien St Julians, is Mr. Joe Hamilton. The event is sponsored by Le Méridien St Julians, MonteKristo winery and ImmagineCasa. For additional information, you may contact Ms. Claire Attard-Vella on claire_attardvella@yahoo.co.uk.
